RP 93. Gorgeous fruit, texture, purity and elegance. The blend of this wine is 52% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest mostly Cabernet Franc with just a touch of Petit Verdot. I would expect it to last at least 20 years, which is remarkable.

DE FIEUZAL – 2000

Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux, France

WS 88 – Oaky nose but classic hints of scorched earth, weedy tobacco, flint, smoke, earth and a hint of black cherry. Massively constituted in the mouth with explosive fruit and tannin. More on the black fruit side with a candied element to it. Tannins are big and chunky. This needs time. Great persistence on the finish although the oak is prominent. Has great potential.

DE FIEUZAL – 2004

Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux, France

WS 87 -The wine is a dense red color, with glints of orange. On the nose, the sensation is fresh, with distinct notes of blackcurrant and a fleeting overtone of smokiness. In the mouth the wine is compact and direct, with a clean fresh approach. The tannic structure is clearly present and needs a few more years to deepen and mature. This is a wine of great character, somewhat difficult to tame, with a touch of rustic structure that will disappear with time.

HAUT BRION – 2006

Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux, France

 1st Growth in 1855.

RP 96.  The tannins are tight and firm and they dominate. Underneath is ripe fruit, the balance with tannins giving a foursquare, solid character. The wine is complex, spice playing with the fruit, some medicinal flavors and a definite stalky, tight structure. It obviously needs long-term aging.

DE FIEUZAL – 2010

Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux, France

Grand Cru classe de Graves in 1959.

WE 93 – Generous, rich wine. It is both supple and distinguished, with a perfectly precise acidity that provides a classic balance to the wine’s fruit flavors. Notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and violet dominate the aromas, but there are also hints of tobacco and spices with a slight touch of pepper. Without doubt this is due to the predominance of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, which is beautifully matched to a smaller percentage of impeccable petit-verdot.
